Palwashaâs family have now set up a GoFundMe in memory of the âbright, kind and caringâ girl.
Organiser Malali Khan said: âPalwasha Akbar was a bright, kind, and caring 13-year-old girl whose tragic passing has left her family, friends, school, and community heartbroken,
âPalwasha loved reading, spending time with her friends, and bringing happiness to those around her. She was a hardworking student with a warm smile, a gentle nature, and a caring heart.
âShe had a bright future ahead of her and touched the lives of so many people through her kindness and positivity.â
The funds raised will go towards causes Palwasha was passionate about.
Malali added: âWe are deeply grateful for the love, support, prayers, and kindness that have been shown to her family during this incredibly difficult time.
âThank you for helping us remember a beautiful young girl who was taken far too soon but will never be forgotten.
âMay Palwashaâs memory continue to inspire kindness, generosity, and compassion in our community.â
Palwasha was a Year 9 pupil at Bronte Girlsâ Secondary Academy and Lyndsay Hall, acting principal at the school, was keen to pay tribute to her.
Ms Hall said: âWe are deeply saddened by the death of one of our much-loved students in a swimming accident.
âShe was a valued and much-loved member of the school community.
âShe was one of our star pupils and will be remembered for her compassion and willingness to go above and beyond to help others.
âAll our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and everyone affected by this tragic loss at this incredibly difficult time.â
An inquest into Palwashaâs death is expected to open at Northallerton coronerâs court on June 18.
She is one of 18 water deaths that occurred across the country during last monthâs heatwave.
The most recent was Rushabh Patel, who died after trying to save two others from drowning.
The 28-year-old father jumped into the water after he spotted two individuals beginning to drown.
He saved both of their lives, but tragically lost his own in the brave act.
It is reported Rushabh suffered from a cardiac arrest while in the water and drowned.
Most of the other 17 fatalities were teenagers who went missing after entering the water.
The body of 15-year-old Abbie Carmody-Pepper was recovered off Burrow Beach near Howth, Dublin, by the Irish Coast Guard last Sunday evening.
Declan Sawyer, also 15, was found by police after they conducted an extensive search of Swanholme Lakes in Lincoln.
