In an unexpected twist, Vernon met a foot specialist at a motorway service station, where he was struggling with his electric vehicle charger. The man, who turned out to be a Premier League footballer’s foot expert, quickly examined Vernon’s foot and diagnosed him with Morton’s neuroma, a painful nerve issue between his third and fourth toes.
The specialist immediately diagnosed Morton’s neuroma after a quick examination in the car park, which Vernon humorously described as “dodgy” but ultimately very helpful. The expert even suggested Vernon book a follow-up appointment, and now he’s receiving steroid treatments to manage the pain.
Morton’s neuroma, a condition involving thickened tissue around the nerve, often leads to sharp, burning pain in the ball of the foot, along with tingling or numbness in the toes.
