President Donald Trump’s towering golden statue at Trump National Doral Miami is drawing crowds, sparking online debate, and becoming one of the newest attractions at the president’s South Florida golf resort.
The 22-foot monument depicts Trump raising his fist moments after surviving the 2024 assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania — an image supporters view as symbolic of strength and perseverance.
Trump praised the statue in a Truth Social post, thanking supporters who commissioned the project and predicting it would become a landmark at the resort.
“This is a statue, now standing at Doral, that was commissioned by a large group of political supporters who just wanted a statue of yours truly,” Trump wrote early Friday.
“I very much appreciate their support, and all that they went through to get it done! They are very good people,” he said.
“Those playing the Blue Monster, at Doral, are absolutely in love with it” the president continued. “Congratulations to all involved. With time, it will become a Landmark!”
The statue was formally dedicated May 6 during a ceremony attended by supporters and members of the Christian and Jewish clergy at the Doral property.
Pastor Mark Burns stood before the crowd, holding his cellphone up to a microphone with Trump on the line as supporters gathered around the gold-colored monument.
“Everybody is taking pictures of it, my people told me. It’s unbelievable,” Trump said during the ceremony, according to The Washington Post.
The monument was installed shortly before Doral hosted a PGA event, bringing increased traffic and visibility to the property.
Visitors this week stopped to take photos of the statue while golfers discussed the latest addition to Trump’s resort.
Some golfers told The Washington Post that the statue reflects Trump’s larger-than-life public image.
One golfer joked that if he owned a golf course, he might build an even bigger statue of himself.
Critics on social media compared the monument to the biblical golden calf and mocked videos from the dedication ceremony, while others accused Trump supporters of excessive admiration for the president.
Supporters, however, defended the display as a tribute marking a historic moment in Trump’s political career after surviving the assassination attempt.
The statue joins other Trump-themed displays throughout the resort, including portraits, memorabilia, framed magazine covers, and branded merchandise.
Trump National Doral remains one of the president’s best-known business properties and regularly hosts conservative events, political gatherings, and high-profile visitors.
