The Nancy Guthrie case has seen a major new development, as one person is set to be charged in connection to her disappearance.

Nancy, the 84-year-old mother of Today Show co-host Savannah Guthrie, has been missing since February 1, when her family reported her disappearance to authorities after she failed to show up for a church service that day. She was last seen the night before after being dropped back at her Tucson, Arizona home by her son-in-law, after a dinner and games night at her daughter Annie’s home.

The case has seemingly stalled in the months since, with no leads on either who was responsible for her abduction, nor her whereabouts. Now, following an alarming statement by a former FBI agent who claims that those behind her disappearance never cared if she survived their attack, one person has been arrested and charged in relation to her case.

Ransom notes have been a major part of the investigation, with several being sent to TMZ both after Nancy first went missing, and in the time since, where a payment of one Bitcoin was demanded in relation to information about the case.

However, authorities determined all of the notes were fakes, and as such, one man from California is now facing charges for his demands.
