A SYRIAN asylum seeker allegedly raped a teenage girl in a portable toilet after he offered to give her a ride home on his e-bike.

Mohammed Abdullah, 19, is accused of raping and assaulting a 19-year-old woman by penetration on Bournemouth seafront in the early hours of July 6 last year.

Abdullah, who arrived in the UK from Syria in 2023, denies the claims.

Prosecutor Mark Eldridge told Bournemouth Crown Court the woman had been out with a friend that night, first in Charminster then Bar So in Bournemouth, Dorset.

She had a “fair amount of drink” before being asked to leave the bar, as she and her friend headed off in different directions.

Eldridge says the teenager had problems finding a taxi home as her phone had run out of battery so she started walking along the seafront.

During the journey, the woman then claims she came across Abdullah and a group of about five other men who she asked for help with directions.

One of the men told her the defendant would give her a lift home on his e-bike and she took him up on the offer, Mr Eldridge said.

Abdullah, who was 18 at the time, then rode with her towards a set of portable toilets.

The prosecutor said that a couple walking along the seafront saw the defendant riding up with the complainant behind him with her arms around his waist.

They then saw the defendant carrying the woman in front of him with her legs around his waist, Mr Eldridge said.

He said that one of the witnesses called out to the defendant “What are you doing with her, I hope you are not going to do anything with her”, before he walked out of sight.

Mr Eldridge said that Abdullah then sexually assaulted the complainant before taking her inside one of the portable toilets where he locked the door before raping her, the court heard.

Mr Eldridge said: “She was wriggling and trying to fight and then thought if she let it happen it would be quicker.”

He added: “The defendant kissed her aggressively and she pulled away but somehow got a burst lip.”

He said that afterwards the defendant rode off while the complainant “took her shoes off in order to run”.

She then sought help from passers-by, asking to use their phones to call her mother, who she told she had been raped, before she called the police.

Mr Eldridge said that one man who helped her described her as “appearing distressed”.

The complainant later told police: “I remember being pinned by my back to the Portaloo, I remember my leg being lifted up, his hand then went up my skirt.

“I thought if I let it happen it would be quicker so I tried to fight a little but I just thought I will let him.

“I remember being dragged into the portable loo at this point, the door being shut and locked, I remember being forced over.”

She added: “The next thing I knew he was gone. I exited the toilet, I took my shoes off so I could run. I saw him riding back to his friends.”

Mr Eldridge said that the defendant, from West Drayton, Middlesex, was arrested and told police in interview that the complainant had consented to both the sexual contact and to sex.

The defendant, who arrived in the UK from Syria in 2023 and given permanent leave to remain under a family reunion scheme, was assisted during the hearing by an Arabic interpreter.

He denies the charges and the trial continues.
