After more than a year apart, Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb have finally reunited on the Today show. The former co-anchors shared a heartfelt moment on air on Monday, as Kotb returned to fill in for vacationing Craig Melvin.
“Good morning, everybody! Welcome to Today! So glad to have you with us on this Monday,” Guthrie greeted viewers at the top of the show, turning to Kotb and touching her arm. “I’m so happy to have you here, Hoda!”
Guthrie agreed, adding, “Yeah, it’s good. Just like the old times!”
The duo led the show together for seven years, starting in 2018, before Kotb stepped away in January 2025 to spend more time with her family. Now, Kotb is back filling in for Craig Melvin, who’s on vacation.
This reunion comes after a challenging period for Guthrie, who took a break from Today in February after her mother, Nancy Guthrie, went missing. Kotb filled in for her during this difficult time, offering support while also reassuring the audience.
“There’s also a job to do,” Kotb said, sharing that the show’s thoughts were always with Guthrie and her family. “We’ll keep the viewers in mind, as always.”
In a tearful interview with Kotb last month, Guthrie opened up about her mother’s disappearance, sharing her heart-wrenching emotions. “It’s unbearable,” Guthrie said, fighting back tears. “I wake up every night, imagining her terror. Those thoughts demand to be thought. I will not hide my face. She needs to come home now.”
Although the case remains unsolved, Guthrie returned to the studio on April 6, with Kotb rejoining her this week. On April 9, Guthrie announced that Kotb would be back in the co-anchor chair.
“Craig, you’re heading off for a well-deserved break,” Guthrie said. “So, starting Monday, we have a new host. Her name is Hoda!”
It’s clear that the dynamic duo is back where they belong, sharing laughs and memories from the good old days. The Today show has never been the same without them, and fans are overjoyed to see them back together again.
