The former Pointless co-host was honoured by the Princess Royal for his incredible work in both the world of television and crime fiction.
At 55, Osman spoke candidly about his deep pride in being British. “This place paid for my entire education and healthcare when I was growing up,” he said, reflecting on the opportunities the UK has provided him. “I’m very proud of growing up in a country that’s full of writers, funny people, and creative minds.”
Osman, who ventured into crime fiction with his best-selling Thursday Murder Club series, revealed that he also shared a thoughtful conversation with Princess Anne about writing and quizzing. “It’s a responsibility more than an honour,” he admitted, as he expressed his gratitude for the recognition.
The Pointless star also opened up about the impact of British culture on his work, saying, “This is a particular part of Britain, but there’s another part of Britain, which is my part. Part of Britain that’s about giving young people creative opportunities.”
After stepping down from Pointless in 2022 to focus on his writing career, Osman’s success has been unstoppable. His books have become a global sensation, with Netflix releasing a film adaptation starring Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren.
