An Emotional Moment for Peter Andre
Peter Andre fought back tears today on Loose Women as he opened up about his mum Thea’s ongoing battle with Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. The emotional TV appearance came as Peter shared an update on his family while promoting his role in Mamma Mia! The Party.
The singer and TV personality, who plays Greek taverna owner Nikos in the hit show, was visibly choked up when a picture of his parents, Savvas and Thea, appeared on screen. His mum, who lives in Australia, is in her nineties and has been suffering from severe health issues in recent years.
Peter, who lives far away from his parents, struggled to find the words when asked about his mum’s condition. “Mum can’t talk, she can’t… you know,” he said, his voice trembling. “It’s really difficult with Mum,” he added, clearly emotional.
Despite the heartbreaking news, Peter managed to joke about his dad’s feedback on his performance in Mamma Mia! “With Dad, he said: ‘It needs work,’” Peter shared with a smile.
Reflecting on his upbringing, Peter also touched on his childhood, raised in a strict Jehovah’s Witness household with Greek traditions. “What my parents taught us, they did it out of love,” Peter said, explaining how he has become more relaxed with his own kids. His approach now is a stark contrast to the strict parenting style he grew up with, which sometimes drives his wife Emily mad.
“I’m so chilled now, it’s actually quite annoying for Emily,” he laughed. “She’s like, ‘Can you back me up?!’”
Peter’s heartfelt update shows just how much he’s been struggling with his mum’s health, and it’s clear he’s doing his best to stay strong for her – and for his own family.
