DANE Bowers has revealed what ex-girlfriend Katie Price said to him about her marriage to conman Lee Andrews after his surprise appearance in her new tell-all docuseries.
At a recent event promoting the four-part series, Katie, 48, revealed Dane had sent her an Instagram message asking what was really going on with her marriage to husband Lee, 43.
Self-described millionaire businessman Lee has been embroiled in one scandal after another since his shock wedding to Katie in January and has been proven to have told numerous lies, including that he’d bid for a majority stake in Chelsea Football Club and that he was an international arms dealer.
Now, in an exclusive chat with The Sun, Dane, 46, explained he reached out to Katie, who he dated between 1998 and 2000, to try and get to the bottom of the drama for his girlfriend Nicole.
He said: “I live in Dubai. It’s like a bloody soap opera, you just can’t be there without hearing about it and all the stupid s**t he comes out with.
“My missus was like ‘oh my God is this for real?’ I was like I’m just going to message her. I think I messaged her ‘please tell me you’re on a wind up with this Lee nonsense?’ and that was it really.
“She wrote back something about how he met me before because I DJ’d for him, which is b*****ks as well. I think he’s got some issues. I was intrigued to see if it was a bloody wind up or not but she didn’t really say.”
Another Level star Dane has been described by Katie as the “love of her life” and is one of a number of familiar faces who appear in the Sky docuseries, Katie Price: Nothing to Hide, which delves into Katie’s colourful life, from childhood to the present day.
Though he doesn’t feature on-screen, the series is made by Louis Theroux’s production company, Mindhouse, and the documentarian said he is “very proud” of the release.
Dane hasn’t seen any of the footage, but decided to take part to take back ownership of some of the narrative.
“I was asked to talk about it and if it was something that bothers me and I was like ‘no, not really’,” he said, speaking on behalf of Zingo Bingo, a new, online bingo brand with several music-themed bingo rooms.
“I’m in a really good relationship now, Nicole is really understanding and is like, ‘look, everyone’s got a past. Absolutely, why not talk about it?’
“I get asked so many times anyway and, occasionally, she’ll bloody mention me and then you get asked all these questions.”
He continued: “So this was an easier way from my own personal view of how things happened and memories of it.
“So many things get misconstrued. Because this was a whole documentary on it, I was quite interested in the things they brought up… kind of have a rebuttal on anything they said. The team was good, it’ll be quite interesting to watch.”
Meanwhile, Katie is currently in Dubai with her fourth husband, Lee, following his release from Al Awir prison last week after a three-week detention.
Lee, who is now sporting a more luscious head of hair than when he disappeared, claimed he was taken at gunpoint and roughed up by the National Guard before being transferred to the prison.
He has since launched a Cameo profile and has been recording messages for fans for money.
