PRINCESS Kate and King Charles have celebrated the work of cancer heroes at a charity reception – two years after the royals were diagnosed with the disease.
The Princess of Wales, 44, smiled as she arrived at the bash celebrating 125 years of Cancer Research UK on Tuesday night.
Kate, who revealed she was in remission last year, joined Charles, 77, who is still undergoing treatment, and Camilla, 78, at St James’s Palace in London.
The event, hosted by the King as patron of Cancer Research UK, saw the royals meet researchers, clinicians, volunteers and partners.
Some of the more well known names include Davina McCall, Ronan Keating, Chris Whitty and Hannah Fry – all of whom have close ties to the charity.
The Princess of Wales wore a red belted dress with a white pattern of tiny hearts and a white collar and cuffs.
Her dress is reminiscent of a red and white polka dot jacket that the Prince of Wales’ mother, then Lady Diana Spencer, wore on a visit to Tetbury, in Gloucestershire, in 1981.
Shortly after arrival they were joined by the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, with the duke being a joint president of the charity.
They will be shown immersive installations highlighting the work of the charity and told how technology is transforming research into the disease.
One of which includes the display of a Spider-Man mask, moulded to help patients stay still during radiotherapy.
TV presenter Davina McCall who is in attendance at the event said her exchange with the Princess of Wales was “really wonderful”.
Ms McCall said: “I can’t imagine what it must be like having gone through something like cancer, and then sort of having to tell people about it, when possibly it would have been much easier and nicer to not have to share it with the world.”
Ms McCall underwent surgery in 2024 to remove a benign brain tumour.
She was diagnosed with breast cancer in October last year and had surgery to remove a lump but said in April that she had now received the “all clear”.
She said: “Cancer has impacted my life in so many ways. I lost my beloved sister Caroline to lung cancer in 2012, then last year I was diagnosed with breast cancer myself. Thankfully, I caught it early, had a lumpectomy and I’m now all clear. I’m living proof of what progress in cancer research looks like.”
Kate revealed she had been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer through a touching video statement in March 2024.
The mum-of-three said “you are not alone“ to fellow cancer patients as she bravely announced she was undergoing “preventative chemotherapy“.
A source at the time claimed Kate had a heart-to-heart with King Charles at Windsor Castle before sharing the emotional announcement.
Charles had chosen to reveal his diagnosis a month earlier, which he later described as “daunting and at times frightening”.
The King returned to frontline duty after a few months recovering, but was taken to hospital last March after side effects from his treatment.
In December, the monarch revealed the “good news” that doctors were reducing his cancer treatment.
Last month, Kate returned to international travel by carrying out her first overseas royal visit since facing cancer.
She headed to Italy for a solo working trip as part of her early years work.
The two-day visit to Reggio Emilia, near Bologna, was the beginning of a “really significant moment” after her cancer recovery, an aide said.
The King, whose diary is as busy as ever despite still receiving treatment for cancer, carried out a historic state visit to the US last month.
While in the States, Charles charmed US President Donald Trump and delivered a widely praised address to Congress.
