In the latest episode of their podcast Lost In Translation, Gemma dropped the bombshell, casually stating, “I ain’t getting married to him. No chance.” Gorka, ever the supportive partner, agreed, adding, “I don’t think I want to get married.”
So, what’s behind this shocking change of heart? Gemma explained that her decision stems from the bitter reality she’s seen in others’ marriages. “Everyone I know who has got married has ended up getting divorced, apart from my sister,” she confessed.
Gorka, who recently announced his exit from Strictly, echoed her sentiment, emphasizing that “marriage is just a document, for a legal thing”. Despite their years together, including raising two kids, they believe they’re fine just as they are—and that marriage just doesn’t feel necessary.
Gemma’s Mum Voices Concerns Over Their Kids
While Gemma is firmly against marriage, her mum has raised concerns about the potential complications for their children if the couple doesn’t marry. Gemma explained: “When it comes to my will, my mum was saying how much more complicated it is.”
But Gorka, ever the joker, quipped back, “I don’t want anything from you,” before Gemma clarified, “It’s about the kids, I need to put it in a will!”

Gemma also admitted her reluctance to get married has been compounded by past grief.
