Coleen Nolan has opened up about her financial struggles after Loose Women faced a severe budget cut, leaving her with fewer episodes and a much lighter paycheck.
The ITV talk show, hit by significant budget slashes, has cut back on its number of shows, affecting the pay-per-episode model that had once ensured steady income for Coleen and her fellow panellists. With less work, she’s feeling the pinch – and the 69-year-old star isn’t holding back on how hard it’s been.
“It’s a tough spot,” Coleen admitted in a candid interview with OK Magazine. “On the one hand, extra time off sounds good, but I’ve got a mortgage to pay!”
The star, who’s been a Loose Women fixture since 2001, explained that the recent cuts had her scrambling for extra cash: “With fewer shows, it’s obviously impacted my income.” She’s even joined the cast of Celebs Go Dating in an attempt to boost her finances and make up for the lost earnings.
But it’s not just the fewer episodes that are shaking things up. The new format for Loose Women has been a major adjustment, as the show now airs without its usual live audience or star-studded guest list. “It’ll feel more like a podcast,” Coleen said. “It’s definitely going to be a strange change.”
Despite the financial strain, Coleen has stayed positive, pointing out that it could have been worse. “They could’ve axed the whole show, so we’re thankful it’s still on air,” she said.
With the support of her co-stars, including Christine Lampard, Ruth Langsford, and Brenda Edwards, Coleen is determined to make it work. “We’ve got each other’s backs, and we’ll get through this together,” she added.
Through the uncertainty, Coleen remains hopeful: “We’ll make it work—just like we always do!”
