Christine Lampard has opened up about the emotional journey of becoming a stepmother to Frank Lampard’s two daughters, revealing that she waited a whole year before meeting them. The emotional decision came out of fear of upsetting the young girls, as Christine wanted to ensure her relationship with Frank was long-lasting before entering their lives.
The 46-year-old Loose Women star, who married football legend Frank in 2015, knew he already had Luna and Isla from a previous relationship. But, instead of rushing into meeting them, Christine decided to take a slower, more cautious approach.
In a recent interview on the Loose Women: Just Between Us podcast, Christine confessed, “I was really aware of how young the girls were at the time, only two and four, and I didn’t want to cause any confusion or heartbreak if things didn’t work out.”

“It took about a year before I met them,” Christine revealed. “I wanted to know that we were in it for the long haul. It was a really cautious decision, and I didn’t want to upset anyone.”
While Christine acknowledges that she isn’t sure if waiting a year was the right decision, it was what felt best for her at the time.
She continued, “I don’t know if we made the right decision, but I feel like we tried to do the right thing. From the girls’ perspective, I was introduced as one of Dad’s friends, even though I had been there for a year.”
With Frank’s daughters’ feelings at the top of her mind, Christine emphasizes how much she valued taking the time to ensure the relationship was strong before diving into a new family dynamic. It’s clear that her careful and thoughtful approach to stepmotherhood came from a deep place of love and respect for the girls.
Christine’s openness about the struggles and emotional decisions behind becoming a stepmother only highlights her commitment to doing right by Frank’s family – and it’s no surprise that she remains one of the UK’s most relatable and cherished TV stars.
