Kym Marsh is sharing an emotional plea with the world: “Don’t wait like my dad did.” The actress and singer is urging men to get checked for prostate cancer before it’s too late, following the heartbreaking loss of her father, Dave Marsh, in 2024.
Dave, 78, passed away after a three-year battle with prostate cancer, a fight that was made harder because he delayed seeing his GP, especially during the Covid pandemic. “It broke us all to realise he left it too late,” Kym confessed, adding that the delay meant the cancer spread and was no longer treatable by the time he sought help.

Now, Kym is on a mission to help other families avoid the same tragedy. She’s advocating for a wider screening programme for prostate cancer, targeting those most at risk—men over 50, black men, and those with a family history of the disease.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK, with 63,000 diagnoses annually. Yet, it’s the only major cancer without a nationwide screening programme.
Kym’s voice is now louder than ever, urging men to take control of their health and get tested. “Early detection saves lives—don’t wait for the signs to show up too late,” she said, as part of her passionate campaign.
