In an emotional and deeply personal moment, Charlie Quirke, son of Birds of a Feather star Pauline Quirke, took on the London Marathon to raise funds for dementia research in honor of his mother’s battle with the condition.

Running alongside his fiancée Chloe Thornton and close friend Jack O’Connell, Charlie and the rest of ‘Team Quirke’ ran to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research UK, a charity close to his heart after Pauline, 66, was diagnosed with dementia in 2021.

Pauline’s son, 31, shared the emotional experience with fans on social media, posting a series of snaps from the event, including a celebratory kiss with Chloe and a team photo with his supporters. So far, the marathon has raised a remarkable £11,000 and counting.

Charlie’s marathon journey came after his mother’s diagnosis and a series of challenges that brought the family closer. “London Marathon Tough is an understatement,” Charlie shared in his post. “But so proud of what we all achieved & a great day with my loved ones, all for @Alzheimerresearchuk.”

Charlie’s efforts go beyond just running the marathon. In the past, he embarked on the ‘Trek for a Cure’ challenge, walking 140km over five days to raise vital funds for dementia research, ultimately raising an impressive £175,000.
With incredible support from family and friends, including James Corden’s £2,000 donation and Dominic Cooper’s £500 contribution, Charlie’s cause has inspired many.
Charlie’s moving tribute and his mission to help others affected by dementia is something that will resonate with everyone. Will he continue his marathon of hope and support for his mother?
