Gregg Wallace has revealed a major life shift after being forced to sell his £1 million Kent mansion following his BBC sacking. The former MasterChef host, 61, is now preparing to move to Italy with his family, announcing his plans to start a new chapter in their lives.

Gregg was dismissed by the BBC in July 2025 following an investigation into 83 allegations of workplace misconduct, with 45 of those allegations being upheld. In a surprising twist, Gregg later sued the BBC for £10,000 in damages over claims they failed to protect his personal data, but he dropped the case in February 2026.

In a candid Instagram video posted on Monday, Gregg shared his plans to leave the UK for Italy, revealing that he will be homeschooling his autistic son, Sid, who is non-verbal. “We’re decluttering the house and putting it on the market,” Gregg explained. “We plan to buy a more modest house in Yorkshire, close to where my daughter lives, and spend five months of the year in Italy.”
The decision to move to Italy came after Gregg admitted that he can no longer live the life he once had. He explained that the sale of his £1 million Kent home — a vast property with stables and a pond — was a way to ensure a slower, more relaxed pace of life for himself and his younger wife, Anne-Marie, 38, and their son Sid.
Gregg added, “I want to relax, but I also want to make sure I can give my family financial security. I have a much younger wife and a special-needs son, so it’s important to leave a legacy for them.”
The former MasterChef presenter also shared that he’s been focusing on his new role as an autism coach, inspired by Sid’s condition, and has been channeling his energy into helping children and adults with autism lead independent lives.
Gregg’s move marks the end of an era. After co-presenting MasterChef since 2005, he stepped down from his role in 2024 following the misconduct allegations. A review later upheld 45 of the allegations, mostly from 2005 to 2018, including claims of inappropriate language and behavior. Gregg apologized for the distress caused, stating he never intended to harm anyone.
Now, Gregg is embarking on a fresh start, with his sights set on a new life in Italy, away from the UK’s media spotlight. His plans to homeschool Sid and create a new home for his family reflect his desire to move forward and focus on what matters most.
