Homelessness Charity Cuts Ties with Sharon Osbourne After Her Support for Tommy Robinson Rally

Centrepoint, a homelessness charity, has made the decision to sever its ties with Sharon Osbourne following her public endorsement of a rally organized by right-wing activist Tommy Robinson. The charity, known for its commitment to helping young people, confirmed that it has “no plans to work together in the future” after the television personality expressed support for Robinson’s upcoming event.

Osbourne showed her support on Instagram, commenting, “See you at the march,” in response to a post detailing the “Unite the Kingdom” rally, scheduled for May 16 in London.Centrepoint to cut ties with Sharon Osbourne after she backs Tommy Robinson rally | Charities | The Guardian

A spokesperson for Centrepoint stated, “Political activity like this runs counter to our values and our long history of supporting young people regardless of their background, religion or ethnicity.” The charity emphasized the importance of a society where young people are not living in fear and can access the opportunities necessary to overcome homelessness and build better futures.

Sharon Osbourne had previously worked with Centrepoint through its Omaze campaign, which sought to raise funds by offering the chance to win a luxury house. Although she was referred to as an ambassador during that campaign, the charity clarified that Osbourne was “not an official ambassador for Centrepoint.”Centrepoint to cut ties with Sharon Osbourne after she backs Tommy Robinson rally | Charities | The Guardian

The rally, organized by Robinson—whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon—has stirred controversy, with plans for a counter-protest, March Against Fascism, to take place on the same day, organized by Stand Up To Racism.
