THE sun’s out, which can mean only one thing – everyone’s in that summer mood and excitedly posting carefully curated holiday pics of themselves on social media.
But we all have those mortifying snaps we’d rather forget too – whether it’s a swimwear slip, angry looking sunburn, accidentally flashing too much flesh on the beach… or, in Orlando Bloom‘s case, paddleboarding completely starkers.
In quite possibly the most bizarre beach shot of all time, very few can forget that now infamous snap of the actor with now-ex Katy Perry during a romantic getaway to Sardinia almost exactly ten years ago.
Before the duo went their separate ways last July, after nine years together, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor, 49, took to the water and decided to strip off to take command of the board. Katy is now in a relationship with Justin Trudeau.
Wearing only a navy cap and a pair of sunnies to protect his eyes, The Lord of the Rings hunk put his toned physique, as well as his penis, on full display.
Orlando looked completely at ease being nude, while the Fireworks hit-maker barely batted an eyelid as she focused on the blue waters ahead.

Skims-credible sunburn blunder
The most common holiday fail? While they may fork out thousands to keep their skin in prime condition, it certainly seems even celebs like Kim Kardashian can forget about one of the most basic beauty essentials – sunscreen.
Long before becoming the global sensation and household name she is now, Kim Kardashian wasn’t as careful when it came to curating her social media feed.
Back in 2009, the SKIMS mogul posted a cringe-worthy photo of herself on X – formerly known as Twitter – after sunbathing over the weekend.
The reality TV star suffered a painful looking burn everywhere – except where her iconic Gucci sunglasses covered her eyes, leaving her with some embarrassing tan lines.
“My whole body is burned, but my face looks the worst because of the glasses,” she said to US Magazine.
“I will never wear sunglasses when sunbathing again!” the billionaire vowed.
Whether you’re loving or loathing the recent heatwave, one non-negotiable is SPF.
To avoid falling into the same trap, Kimberley Medd, Head of Clinic, Face The Future, advises: “One of the biggest myths I see is that applying SPF once in the morning is enough.
“During a heatwave, higher temperatures, sweat and more time outdoors can all affect how well your sunscreen performs.
“As a general rule, SPF should be reapplied every two hours when you’re outside, and more frequently if you’re swimming or sweating heavily.
She continued: “Ideally, choose a broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher and a high level of UVA protection.”

But while the loved-up pair consider relocating to London because they prefer ‘colder climate’ to balmy Los Angeles, they may want to think again – as temperatures soar to a record-breaking 40C this week.
Perhaps it should come as no surprise mum-of-four Chrissy wants to live somewhere cooler – as she once suffered a brutal sunburn, posting a topless mirror selfie displaying her red skin on Instagram.
Chrissy, who welcomed the couple’s fourth child via surrogate in 2023, claimed that she had put on sunscreen, captioning the shot: “Before you ask, I did!!!”

A tiny outfit and strong waves – the perfect combination if you want to suffer a wardrobe malfunction.
Unfortunately, American model Brooks Nader, 29, knows all too well about this, as she almost lost her fiery red mini dress to the almighty power of nature.
The Dancing With The Stars alumnus accidentally flashed the flesh while shooting the ocean scene for Love Thy Nader reality series with her sisters earlier this year.
Nader, who is one of the four sisters appearing in the Hulu show, could be seen grabbing onto the tiny piece of cloth for her dear life, as she desperately attempted to hide her modesty.
From ballroom to beach
Appearing on Strictly Come Dancing is no easy feat – which is why pro Katya Jones was all smiles as she soaked up the sun and relaxed in Mykonos before the gruelling season in June 2022.
The 37-year-old vowed fans – and fellow beach-goers – in a tiny black bikini as she topped up her tan on the Greek island.
But while she enjoyed some well-earned time off strolling along the beach wearing nothing but teeny bottoms, the breeze proved to be too strong to keep her sarong in place – and Katya’s buttocks were on full show.

It’s only fair to say that throughout the year Brits don’t get an awful lot of sun – so when we do, swarms of people flock to the nearest beach, including the one and only Gemma Collins.
The TOWIE legend, 45, has every reason to be proud of her figure, which she showed off in this summery photo taken last year.
But while the reality TV royalty, who has lost a staggering 3.5st, didn’t forget a cheeky cigarette and a drink to sip on whilst soaking up the glorious sunshine, it appears that Gemma forgot to apply sun cream, as paparazzi caught the icon badly burnt.
Gemma, who was spotted in Whitstable alongside her celebrity stylist pal Lucas Armitage, tried to even out the tan lines by removing the straps from her maxi dress – though we’re not sure if that worked.
‘It’s not big and it’s not clever’
It seems X Factor legend Diana Vickers, 34, also had a sunscreen mishap after losing track of time while enjoying a holiday tipple – and ended up with a painful-looking sunburn.
Diana, who shot to fame on the 2008 series of the ITV talent show, flashed her underboob in the skimpy swimwear before she ditched the top and displayed her very sunburnt chest.
The actress told her Instagram followers: “Drinking 3 bottles of rosé at 11 am in the boiling sun… It’s not big and it’s not clever.”
‘My mother is going to kill me’
A few weeks in the LA sun would usually mean a sunkissed glow.
But not for Tallia Storm who decided to take drastic measures after not becoming more bronzed despite the weather.
Unfortunately, the Scottish singer and I Want You hitmaker ended up paying a hefty price after she skipped sunscreen and ended up with a painful lobster tan.
“My mother is going to kill me,” the 27-year-old told her 820k followers on TikTok.
“I’ve been in LA for five weeks now and I’ve no tan, so I was like, ‘You know what, f**k it, I’ll take matters into my own hands, I’ll go running in the Canyon with nothing’.
“Next thing you know, three hours later,” she said, showing the jaw-dropping aftermath.
