NINE people have been rushed to hospital after emergency services responded to a “medical emergency” at a primary school.
Paramedics, an air ambulance and a “hazardous area response team” were all dispatched to the school in Nottinghamshire around 2pm yesterday.
Emergency services descended on Jesse Gray Primary School in West Bridgford on Wednesday afternoon.
East Midlands Ambulance Service has confirmed nine patients in total were transported to Queen’s Medical Centre.
A spokesperson told the Nottingham Post: “The caller reported a medical emergency. We sent a number of resources including paramedics in ambulance cars, crewed ambulances and our hazardous area response team.”
“A responder from the air ambulance was also in attendance. Nine patients were transported to Queen’s Medical Centre.”
A large number of police cars and ambulances were reportedly seen outside the school, causing alarm amongst locals.
County councillor Jonathan Wheeler, who represents West Bridgford South, responded reports from residents who were “concerned after spotting a large number of ambulances outside Jesse Gray School”.
He said: “I have spoken with the school and they have a couple of pupils who have gone to hospital for precautionary checks, the parents are aware and I won’t say more for their privacy.
“Given the nature of messages sent and rumours out there the school are happy for me to post this update. Thank you.”
It is not yet known what the exact nature of the incident was, but police said it is not being treated as a crime.
Nottinghamshire Police said officers were only at the scene in a “supportive capacity”.
