The BBCâs Strictly Come Dancing has just kicked off its biggest revamp yet, confirming Lacey Turner as the first celebrity contestant for 2026. The 38-year-old EastEnders star, currently on a break from playing Stacey Slater, admitted sheâs âterrifiedâ but thrilled to hit the dancefloor this September.
Fans got an exclusive peek as Lacey shared on Instagram:
âI canât quite believe that Iâm actually saying this⊠I will be taking my little toes onto the dancefloor to do Strictly. So, there you go, the secret is out!â
Itâs not just the celebs whoâve changed â the show itself has undergone a dramatic shake-up. Longtime hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman have stepped down, making way for Emma Willis (50), Johannes Radebe (39), and Josh Widdicombe (43). Meanwhile, fan-favourites Janette Manrara, along with dancers Luba Mushtuk, Gorka Marquez, Karen Hauer, Nadiya Bychkova, and Michelle Tsiakkas, will no longer appear â marking the end of an era.
Lacey, who previously turned down Strictly in 2017 for being ârubbish at dancing,â is now ready to embrace the challenge. She told fans:
âIâve had so many friends do Strictly and I thought it was about time that I plunked up the courage and made my way onto that dance floor.â

With a brand-new hosting trio, a high-profile cast shake-up, and Lacey Turner leading the charge, the show promises a fresh, unpredictable ride for viewers. Can the revamped Strictly capture the magic fans love while keeping the surprises coming?Â
