Anthony Canty, 39, gave a cop CPR when he had a heart attack on a bus in April 2020.
The officer was airlifted to hospital and spent five days in intensive care.
The following month, Good Samaritan Anthony scooped £1million on the lottery.
The cop, who made a full recovery, told him “good karma happens to good people”.
But six years after his life-changing win, heroic Anthony was tragically killed in a collision in Tiptree, Essex.
It is understood he was cycling to work around 6.30am on May 21 when a car knocked him down.
The dad-of-two was rushed to hospital by ambulance but died four days later.
The driver fled the scene on Maldon Road but later returned.
An 18-year-old man was initially arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while unfit through drink and drugs, and failing to stop at the scene.
He remains under investigation while enquiries continue.
A local farm shop worker, who witnessed the aftermath of the collision, told The Sun: “This is a busy road and it’s a horrendous junction…
“I think the car hit Anthony from behind, the bike went forward, he went up and came down on the windscreen.”
He added: “The driver drove off but he came back later. The police then took the car away on a low-loader.”
The man, who asked not to be named, said a passerby gave Anthony CPR until the ambulance arrived.
He described the lottery winner as a “lovely man”.
He added: “It shouldn’t happen to anyone, but he was a lovely, family man. It’s very sad.
“He was well known around here, he grew up around this area.”
Tributes to “true gentleman” Anthony have flooded in on social media.
Among them was David Beckham’s sister Lynne Beckham-Briggs, 54, who wrote on Facebook: “Another good one taken too soon! Anthony Canty you will be truly missed! Such a lovely man.”
Pal Fola Akinlade added: “Don’t and won’t find the words to explain what a shock and how undeserving you were that this happened to you Anthony Canty.”
Another friend, Kerry Linehan, described Anthony as “one of the nicest, genuine and true gents I have ever had the pleasure of knowing”.
While Kirsty Morton wrote: “Absolutely speechless what has happened to you – life is so unfair.”
Anthony, who had two daughters with wife Katie, won the EuroMillions in the May 5, 2020 draw.
At the time he joked about how he initially thought he had won £100,000.
It wasn’t until Katie checked the numbers herself that they realised they were millionaires.
Anthony said: “I called Katie to tell her the good news but she wouldn’t believe me and thought I was winding her up, so I gave her the numbers to check for herself.
“I heard her log on and then she started screaming and said, ‘You div, it’s one million, we’re millionaires, you have to come home!”
The couple were pictured gleefully spraying champagne as they posed with their giant cheque.
Anthony planned to spend the money on a new house and a trip to Disneyland for his daughters, but he vowed not to give up work.
At the time of his death he was working for building materials supplier J Purdy and Sons.
Now, Essex Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision to get in touch.
A spokesman for the force said: “Detectives continuing to investigate a serious collision involving a vehicle and bicycle in Tiptree can confirm a man has sadly since died in hospital.
“Officers were first called to the collision, in Maldon Road, at 6.30am on Thursday 21 May.
“The cyclist, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital by ambulance in a serious condition.

The force confirmed an 18-year-old man was initially arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while unfit through drink/drugs and failing to stop.
