Shocking video captured at Epsom Racecourse on Saturday (June 6) shows two men trading blows in front of stunned spectators during the famous horse race.

Racegoers watched as two men started scrapping during the last race of Derby Day, with the fighting lasting for several minutes despite attempts by staff to intervene.

The footage shows one man with his white shirt ripped from his body during the clash before he falls to the floor.

He is then seen getting back up and re-enters the fight – continuing to throw punches.

Response teams scramble to separate the pair and the brawl spilled to the ground – with both men continuing to grapple as shouting rings out around them.

The video appears to show another racegoer being knocked over in the chaos, while one of the men can later be seen with blood covering much of his face and shirt.

A witness to the fight said: “The response team and a few people were trying to split them up but they were just going at it for four or five minutes before the police got there.”

He added that one of the men had “blood all over his shirt” by the time officers arrived.

According to the witness, another person who was caught up in the incident was taken away by ambulance.

It was reported that arrests were made after the fight, but Surrey Police have not confirmed this.

The witness added: “I definitely saw one in cuffs.”

The violence broke out inside the main grandstand building, where many racegoers had gathered to shelter from wet weather during Derby Day.

Epsom Derby Day is one of the biggest events in the British sporting calendar, attracting tens of thousands of racegoers each year.

A spokesperson for Epsom Downs Racecourse said: “Our security teams and police on site responded quickly to an incident on Saturday.

“This matter is now being dealt with by Surrey Police so it would not be appropriate to comment further, other than to say that this sort of behaviour has no place at our racecourse.”

Surrey Police was approached for comment.
